Kandy Esala Perahera concludes successfully

Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara handed over the Sannaspatra to President Mahinda Rajapaksa declaring the successful conclusion of the Kandy Esala Perahera at President’s House in Kandy yesterday.

The President speaking at this ceremony said minor incidents that took place in the country have earned much public attention with the eradication of terrorism and certain elements were trying to create public opinion that a crime wave is prevailing in the country by making use of this situation.

He pointed out that the government was able to stop killings that were the order of the day in the past, with the eradication of terrorism.  At a time when the government had launched a wide network to crack down the illicit traffic in narcotic drugs, armed groups and underworld characters certain elements with vested interests are talking of these heinous activities.said the President. He urged all citizens to come forward to uplift the country.

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga were also present.
