Film Appreciation workshop at SLFDF Academy

The Sri Lanka Foundation Digital Film (SLDF) Academy in association with Film & Television Institute of India, Pune and the Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo is organizing a 10 days Film Appreciation Workshop until August 10 at the SLFDF Academy, 100 Sri Lanka Padanama Mawatha, Independence Square,Colombo 7.
The workshop includes screening of prominent films of eminent Film Directors. The workshop is organized as part of the celebration of 100 years of Indian Cinema.
The Film Appreciation Workshop will be conducted by the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Prof. Indranil Bhattacharya from the Film and Television Institute of India along with K Hariharan and Avijit Mukul Kishore will conduct the workshop. The course content will be Basic Concepts about the film medium : time and space, mise-en-scene, montage, film styles and movements, genres and sound and audio aesthetics, selected topics in the history of cinema (two to three topics of importance), how films are made : basic concepts of film editing, direction, cinematography and sound design, kinds of films: non-fiction, experimental, animation, etc., contemporary developments - digital technology and transmedia forms which have influenced cinema, analysis of short films, documentaries, contemporary South Asian Cinema (An overview of the works of selected directors) and curated screenings every evening of important films relevant to the course content.
