Govt. allocate Rs.90,000 million for Colombo housing

The government has allocated Rs 90,000 million to solve the housing problems of slum dwellers in Colombo. Under this project the Urban Development Authority is to construct 30,000 housing units in its first stage, solely for the settlement of slum dwellers. 10 sites have been identified for this project.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the UDA to complete the housing units before the end of 2013.

The sites selected for construction of these houses are in Aluth Mawatha, Henamulla, Ferguson Road, Cyril C Perera Mawatha, Jewel Arts Land and Dematagoda. Each family is to get a standard house worth Rs 3 million under this project.(niz).
