Promoting diplomatic relations in a wide scale in this region will be another step forward in Sri Lanka's foreign policy as Latin American countries which were under the British, French and other European Colonial rules are today marching towards sustainable growth and developing as emerging States.
The 13 Latin American countries are: Guatemala, Suriname, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados. Dominica, Grenada Haiti, St. Kits & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Sri Lanka has so far established diplomatic relations with 20 countries, out of the 33 countries in Latin America, which are members of the United Nations.
