House donated for war hero family

The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development donated a newly constructed house to a war hero of the Civil Defence Force (CDF) at a function held at Aandankulama in Trincomalee yesterday (17th August).
Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development handed over the keys of the newly constructed house to Mrs Jeewanthi Manjula, the widow of war hero M. Sanath Nandasiri of CDF who made the supreme sacrifice on 19th June 2009 due to a LTTE terror attack in Seruwila in the Eastern Province.
The house was constructed under the direction and guidance of Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa and under the constant supervision of Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa.
Construction work was carried out by Civil Defence Force personnel with financial support from the Rotary Club of Colombo.
Additional Secretary (Administration) to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development and Vice President of the Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Indu Rathnayake, Director General of the Department of Civil Security Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris and Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Department of Civil Security Mrs Kumuduni Peiris were present at the occasion.
