“Bring Back the Army Camp”, Karaveddy People Request Jaffna Commander

A group of civilians from Karaveddy on Saturday (18) morning submitted a communiqué to the Army requesting re-establishment of the Kallikai Army point that was removed from the area recently.
Around 50 civilians representing the villagers walked holding placards to a place close to the Vadamarachchi South Pradeshiya Sabha office and handed the document signed by around 200 civilians over to the Commander 521 Brigade Colonel Tikiri Dissanayake. They requested the Brigade Commander to deliver one copy to the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna for early action in this regard.
In the said communique they have stated that thefts, sexual abuses on school children, anti social behaviouir of drunkards and stealing of animals in the area have increased after removal of the Army Camp.
This Kallikai camp was removed on 07th August 2012 sequel to reducing of military presence in the peninsula.
