Religions Play a Major Role in Creating National Unity- Minister Deananda

Sri Lanka's Minister of Traditional Industries & Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda subsequent to participating at a special prayer service held at Uduvil Catholic Church, on Sunday (09) said that religions could play a major role in creating National Unity needed for a lasting peace in Sri Lanka.

 
Speaking further, the Minister said that due to incorrect leadership of some Tamil politicians a massive destruction was caused to the life and properties of those in the North and East  and to the whole country in general. However, he was happy to observe the emergence of peace after a considerable period of time. The Minister thanked all those who were directly and indirectly instrumental in bringing peace to the country. He also said that many a political and religious leaders resorted to unfailing efforts to bring in peace to this beautiful land of ours and their sincere efforts had now borne fruit making it possible for every citizen of this country to live in peace and harmony.
