Feasible work plan for Northern Province National & Private transport services

Douglas Devananda, Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development, at a meeting he had with the representatives of 14 Private Bus Owners’ Associations, at his Ministerial Premises in Jaffna , on Sunday (09) said that the Officials of the Northern Transport Board need to pay their attention to work in conjunction with the Private Bus Owners’ Associations for arriving at a feasible work plan in operation of buses in accordance to a set time plan so as to provide the commuters with a satisfactory service at all times.


 
Speaking further, the Minister said that the relevant officials in the transport service should be concerned about the allegations made against the bus crews, like; overloading, excessive speed, rudeness towards the commuters, non-adherence to timetables, etc. He also said that it’s the bounden duty of all the officers engaged in the transport service to plan out their activities, and the bus crews to exercise care and attention in serving the general public, especially, the school children, the aged and the infirm.

 
The Minister also said that it was his expectation that the Private Bus Owners’ Associations would provide the public with a satisfactory service by strictly adhering to the rules and regulations published by the National Transport Commission in their website from time to time.

 
Representatives from 14 Private Bus Owners’ Associations participated at this meeting.
