A batch of 125 cadets of Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) who completed one month field training in Jaffna called on the Commander Security Forces Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe on Friday (14) prior to their departure.
They, after being received to the Headquarters SF-J, attended a briefing by the SF- J Commander at the Officers’ Mess where they leant how the military in Jaffna interacts with local communities and the services rendered by the Army for country’s development and reconciliation efforts.
Maj. Gen. Hathurusinghe stressed that understanding the culture, social obligations and aspirations of people whom we are bound to serve will drive us towards a successful career as public servants and to ensure that golden principle of good governance is always kept at high esteem.
During that interesting session, SLAS Cadets exchanged views with the SF-J Commander and other senior Army officers present there.
The programme, other than orientating, helped the cadets to work under experienced civil administvators in the Jaffna District. Also it offered opportunity to new comers to the administrative field to familiarize with the lifestyle of people of Jaffna and to know their pulse on which peace and communal harmony could be built.
Government Agent Jaffna Mr. S. Arumainayagam and Divisional Secretaries were also present.
