Grade V cutoff marks released

The Commissioner General of Examination Jagath Pushpakumara said that Grade V Scholarship examination results were dispatched by post to all schools yesterday.
Meanwhile, the cut off marks for selection of students for popular schools and for awarding the scholarships were also announced yesterday. Students who wish to get their results re-scrutinized could submit their appeals until 15th October through the Principals of their relevant schools.
The cut off marks for Sinhala medium students in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha , Kalutara, Kandy , Mathale, Galle , Matara, Kurunegala and Kegalle have been fixed as 152. It will be 148 for the Hambanthota and Ratnapura districts. The cut off marks for the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Badulla districts will be 146, while the cut off marks for Moneragala, Puttlam and Ampara districts will be 145. It will be 144 for Vavuniya and Trincomalee districts and it will be 143 for the Nuwara Eliya district.
2012 Grade Five Scholarship Examination was held on the 26th August and 310, 329 students sat for the examination.
Anjalie Upeksha Maduwanthi and Kissara Sandaluka Kodituwakku have become first in the examination by obtaining 196 marks each.
Anjalie Upeksha is a student of the Thalathu-Oya Junior School in Kandy, while Kissara Sandaluka is a student from Richmond College, Galle. Student Achith Adithya Bandara Wickremasinghe of 7th day Adventurist High School of Kandana has obtasined the 2nd place all island by obtaining 195 marks. It is significant to note that Anjalie Upeksha and Achith Adithya have not attended any tuition class for the Grade V scholarship examination. (niz)
