Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaska opened the newly built Preliminary Care Unit of the Tangalle Base Hospital Tuesday (06) in conjunction with the 45th death commemoration of late D.A. Rajapaksa. The Prfeliminary Care Unit costing Rs. 181 million was constructed under the Mahinda Chinthana "Suwa Sevana" programme funded by the Korean foundation for International Healthcare. Korea has also provided the expertise and equipment required for the unit. The theatre and dental clinic of the Unit has the capacity to accommodate 33 patients at a time.
At this occasion President Mahinda Rajapaksa presented special mementos to consultants attached to the hospital in recognition of their valuable service.
Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena, Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, External Affairs Minister Prof G.L. Peiris, Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and Korean Government officials were also present.
