CJ attends impeachment hearing

Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake arrived at the parliament this morning to face the parliamentary select committee (PSC) probing the charges leveled against her through the impeachment motion.
She is expected to be impeached over 14 charges of financial and official misconduct.
The 11-member PSC comprising 7 government and 4 opposition legislators has summoned the Chief Justice to show cause regarding the charges against her.
The first session of the impeachment hearing by the Select Committee ended this afternoon. Parliamentary sources said the PSC will reconvene on December 4th. (niz)
