Arippu Bridge, shortest land route to Mannar from Puttalam opened

Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development declared opened the Thallady-Ariipu Bridge that crosses the Malwathu Oya on Sunday (16).
The width of the bridge is 7.35 meters while the length is 258 meters. The Arippu Bridge is the shortest land route to Mannar from Puttalam. The bridge was constructed under the UK Steel Bridge project at a cost of Rs. 540 million.
It gives a vast relief to the people of the area to manage their day to day activities without any difficulty and it facilitates the resettlement and development programmes in Musalli Divisional Secretariat division. The bridge will also help to uplift the life standards of the people of the area while encouraging tourism.
Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Government officials also participated at this occasion.
