    Four naval Ships arrived at Colombo Fort

    Four foreign naval ships from US Navy, Royal Omani Navy, and the Japanese Navy arrived at Port of Colombo yesterday (24th July).


    The US Navy’s vessel "LPD-18 USS New Orleans" arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit and was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy.


    During the six-day official visit, the crew of “USS New Orleans” is due to take part in an array of programs organized by the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly naval personnel of the two navies will be competing in friendly Cricket, Baseball, Basketball, Football and Volleyball games at Welisara Naval Base. The ship is scheduled to leave Sri Lanka on 29th of this month having conducted a passage exercise (PASSEX) with the Sri Lanka Navy.


    The Royal Omani Navy Ship “Khassab” arrived at the Port of Colombo yesterday on a replenishment visit. It is scheduled to leave Sri Lanka on 27th July.

     
    Meanwhile, two Japanese naval ships, "JMSDF Inazuma" and "JMSDF Suzutsuki", arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill and replenishment visit.


    Prior to their departure on 25th July, the visiting Japanese ships are due to conduct a Passage Exercise with SLN craft with a view to sharing professional expertise and strengthening camaraderie between the two friendly navies.
