    Sri Lanka makes first ever appearance at the NY Trade fair Featured

    Sri Lanka pavilion at the ‘Artisan Resource at NY NOW 2016’ trade fair was opened by Dr. Rohan Perera, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations, New York on 21st August 2016 at the Jacob Javits Center, New York.  


    The trade fair is held from 21st to 24th August 2016 and this was Sri Lanka’s first ever participation.


    Seven Sri Lankan companies took part at the Trade Fair through the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) where they were able to display Giftware and Lifestyle products manufactured in Sri Lanka.


    Senarath Attanayake Member of Provincial Council, A. S. Khan, Deputy Permanent Representative, Ms. Upeka Samaratunga, Minister (Commercial) of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington, Ms. Thejani De Alwis, Deputy Director of EDB and representatives of the participating companies and the trade fair organizers were present.


    Ambassador Dr. RohanPerera hosted a dinner in honor of the Sri Lankan exhibitors on 22nd August at the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York.  Executive Committee Members of the US-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and US business community members were also invited for the dinner paving the way for a cordial business networking session.
