Free Grant of UDA land at Ratnapura New Town to the University Grants Commission to handover the same to the University of Sabaragamuwa, Sri Lanka - the proposal m
ade by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence, and Urban Development, to allocate a land at Ratnapura New Town near the General Hospital, in extent of about 20 Ares to the University Grants Commission to handover same to the University of Sabaragamuwa, Sri Lanka, to establish the Faculty of Health Sciences of the said University, was approved by the Cabinet.

01. Introduction of a New Petroleum Resources Act by Repealing the Petroleum
- Resources Act, No.26 of 2003 - the proposal made by H.E. the President, to instruct the Legal Draftsman to prepare a new Bill for the exploration, production, management and regulation of petroleum resources in Sri Lanka and to repeal the existing Act in keeping with the present day needs of the country, was approved by the Cabinet.

01. An MoU with India for Technical Assistance in support of National Plan for a Trilingual Sri Lanka –
The Presidential Initiative for Trilingual Sri Lanka aims to make every Sri Lankan citizen knowledgeable in Sinhala, Tamil and English. The 10 year National Plan for a Trilingual Sri Lanka drawn up for the purpose sets the foundation for a national initiative to encourage the acquisition of trilingual skills and competencies by all citizens of the country. Technical assistance for the purpose is to be obtained from the government of India and the proposal by H.E. the President to sign the relevant agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of India, after incorporating the amendments discussed at the Cabinet Meeting, was approved by the Cabinet.
