The 15th Asian Junior Athletic Championship was successfully completed at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday evening. The Championship was started on the 9th of this months and athletes from 34 counntries participated.
China emerged champions by securing a tally of 16 medals including 10 golds, five silver and one bronze. Six new meet records were also set up at this event including an Asian Junior record.
Chinese Taipei was placed second with six golds, three silver and four bronze medals. Qatar went back with five medals, four golds, and one bronze. Sri Lanka secured five medals including two golds, one silver and two bronze.
On the final day yesterday, Sri Lankan athletes won the silver medal from the 400 meter relay event.
