T20 World Cup 2012 trophies will be brought to Sri Lanka today

The ICC trophies of the Twenty20 World cup tournament will be brought to Sri Lanka today.

 

The trophies of the men’s and women’s tournaments will be ceremonially taken from Galle Face Green to the Torrington Square in a glass casket in a procession led by Elephants, drummers and traditional dancers.

 

The trophies will be handed over to the Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage at the Independence square by the CEO of the ICC Dave Richardson.

 

The ICC Twenty20 World Cup tournament will start on 18th September with the first match scheduled to be played between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Sooriyawewa, Hambantota.

 

The first and second semi finals will be played on 4th and 5th October in Colombo and the final will be played on 7th October at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.(niz)
