The All Island Mini Rugby Football Carnival organized by Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union in collaboration with the Sports Ministry concluded at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Sports Complex, Diyagama under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the chief guest on Sunday.
A total of 3,270 Junior Ruggerites comprising school girls and boys representing 327 teams from all provinces of the country contested at one venue in 14 courts with Sixty referees judging the matches.
Yesterday's event was an outcome of the project undertaken by the Ministries of Education and Sports to develop seven sports including rugby throughout the country. According to the Ministry of Sports action will be taken to popularize the sport in all provinces including North and East.
The President awarded certificates to the participants.
