The World Bank is lending Sri Lanka US$ 213 million to prevent the flooding in the country's economic capital of Colombo and increase its defenses against the natural disaster to safeguard the livelihoods of city's 2.5 million people and the economic health of the entire country.

Sri Lanka Tourism launched the second Joint Mega Promotion campaign in China called “Sri Lanka Shines in Shanghai ”, in the at Pudong Shangri La Hotel in Shanghai with a Press Conference on 1st July with the participation of over 120 leading Chinese electronic and print Media representatives. This Joint Mega Promotion campaign which will be held from 1st to 6th July a joint efforts from Public and Private sectors has been initiated under the advice of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Hashemite Kingdom wants to renew its trade with Sri Lanka-with no less than a Joint Commission meet at its end. “Let us now get really practical. It is time to activate 2007 Agreement and start vigorous bilateral trade.
