    Decisions taken by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting held on 26.06.2018

    1.      Constructing modern four storied building for Administration of Police Training School , Kaluthara. (Document No. 22)

    Kaluthara Police training school which is spread over 209 acres, has facilities to train more that 1000 officers Police Constable to Assistant Superintendent of Police , at a time. The cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Minister of Public Administration & Management and Law & Order, to facilitate the administrative process of these training programs by providing modern four storied building instead of the existing with less facilities.

     

     

    1. National Assessment Policy (Document No.27)

    The government implements approximately 1,300 development projects yearly, all over the country. Nearly 1/3 of these projects are massive projects. (the cost is more than Rs.500) In addition, there are many District, Divisional and Local Government Development activities. The cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Sagala Rathnayake, Minister of Youth Affairs, Project Management and Southern Development to implement the National Assessment Policy drafted to evaluate the productivity & Long-term results as well as the impact of these projects on public life.

    1. Commencement of preliminary construction works of the cardiothoracic complex at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (Document No.32)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence, to award the contract for preparing the base of Cardiothoracic Complex Project to Nawaloka Pvt.Ltd for a sum of Rs. 99.67 million .

     

    1. Construction of Airport Hotel at Katunayake Bandaranayake Airport. (Document No.33)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Ashoka Abeysinghe acting Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to award the procurement of construction and maintenance of a hotel in a land owned by the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) ltd to Thilanka Hotel Pvt. Ltd and Striders Corporation group as recommended by the cabinet appointed standing procurement committee.

     

    1. Procurement for supply of Magazines which include information on facilities can be utilized for the entertainment of Airline Passengers. (Document No.36)

    In accordance with the recommendation of Cabinet appointed standing procurement committee, the cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Public Enterprise and Kandy City Development to award the procurement of supplying magazines ad leaflets regarding the facilities which can be utilized for the entertainment of passengers of Sri Lanka Air Line, to Inflight Dublin Pvt.Ltd. for a sum of Rs. 5.92 million and for a period of three years starting on 01.10.2018.

    1. Wanudrapenuella Water supply Project (Document No.38)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Hon. Rauff Hakeem, Minister of City Planning and Water Supply to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between National Water Supply and Drainage Board and M/s Tata Projects Ltd. to conduct a Feasibility study on proposed Wandurapinuella Reservoir.

    1. Construction of a 1500 m3 Water Tower and Water Supply System in Naiwala Area   (Document No.23)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Hon. Rauff Hakeem, Minister of City Planning and Water Supply to provide the contract of constructing 1500 m3 Water Tower in Naiwala area and installation of water pipes and other accessories, to the joined company of Silex Engineering Pvt.Ltd and Prathibha Industries Ltd as recommended by the Cabinet appointed standing Procurement Committee.

     

    1. Consultancy services for executing Sustainability Fisheries Development Project in Northern Province (Document No.39)

    It has been planned to construct two Fishery Harbours in Point Peduru and Pesale, and Anchorage at Mandative Jaffna, under the financial subsidy of USD 158 million provided by Asian Development Bank. Further it has been identified 8 Fishery Harbours in Jaffna and 8 in Mannar Districts, 6 fishery harbours in Mulathive District and 03 in Kilinochchi District, to be improved.

    Accordingly the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal Presented by Hon. Wijith Wijayamuni Soysa, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to proceed to select a Consulting Companies for this project implemented under three components.       (Construction and development of fishery harbours, anchorages and ferries, Aquaculture Development and Livelihood development.)    

     

    1. Committee for Updating Petroleum Prices (Document No.50)

    The cabinet of Ministers has approved to introduce a cost based price formula for fuel , to execute this formula from 11th May 2018 and to update the fuel price before 5th day of third month based on the international prices of previous two months. Accordingly the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal presented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media to establish a committee consisting of the officials of Treasury and Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development to maintain the transparency of methodology of formula and to update petrol and diesel Price three monthly on 5th day of third month.
