    Decisions taken by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting held on 24.07.2018

    1.      Bilateral Aviation Agreements with Hellenic Republic (Greece) and Italy (Document No. 09)

     

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon Nimal Siripala de Silva Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to take necessary steps to enforce the bilateral Aviation Agreements with Hellenic Republic (Greece) and Italy.

    1. Construction of Kandy Multi Transport Terminal (Document No.16)

     

    The proposal presented by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development for Rs. 1,460 million provisions to construct a Multi Transport Terminal in Kandy was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

     

    1. Agri-Irrigation Development Project adapting Climate Changes (2018-2024) (Document No.18)

     

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal Presented by Hon. Mahinda Amarweera, Minister of Agriculture to invest USD 140 million to implement above project between during 2018-2024 with assistance of World Bank Funds.

     

    1. Trade Names Promotion Scheme for Exporting Pure Ceylon Tea 2018/2019 (Document No.21)

    The cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Naween Dissanayake Minister of Plantation Industries to allocate Rs.500 million out of the Funds of Sri Lanka Tea Board to reimburse 50% of promotion cost of local Tea Exporters/Export Companies, qualified under the Global Tea Promotion Program plan of the Sri Lanka Tea Board.

    1. Strengthening Small Scale Rubber Plantations (Document No.22)

    The Proposal Presented by Hon. Naween Dissanayake Minister of Growers to provide modern tool set (worth Rs.5000/-), manufactured by Sri Lanka Rubber Research Institute, to 10,000 “Thuru Saviya” members during 2018-2019, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

     

    1. Construction of New Building for Kekirawa Police Station (Document No.26)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Ranjith Maddumabandara , Minister of Public Administration , Management and Law & Order to construct a building with modern facilities for Kekirawa Police Station.

     

    1. Livelihood Development of Modern Village Beneficiaries through “Enterprise Sri Lanka” and “Gamperaliya” National Programs .  (Document No.28 & 29)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal Presented by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Constructions to prepare Rural Livelihood Development Plans to develop the livelihood of Model Village Beneficiaries and launch National Programs “Gamperaliya” and “Enterprise Sri Lanka” providing livelihood covering all the beneficiaries.

    1. Facilitating the Temporary Sheltering Centres for Women Affected by Violence (Document No.32)

    The Cabinet of Ministers has granted it’s approval to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with “Women in Need” and “Jaffna Social Action Centre” for the administration of Temporary Sheltering Centres for Women in Jaffna, Mulative, Batticaloa, Colombo and Mathara Districts. The cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal Presented by Hon. Chandrani Bandara, Minister of Women and Child affaires to provide a qualified staff and other necessary facilities by the government.

    1. Conservation of Nilwala River Basin. (Document No.34)

    The cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal presented by Hon. Sagala Rathnayaka, Minister of Youth Affairs, Project Management and Southern Development to invest Rs. 62 million to conserve Nilwala River Basin from Pitabeddara to Kotapola with the assistance of the Ministry of Water Resources and Disaster Management.

     

    1. Installation of Information Technology Application System for Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd (Document No.37)

    The cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs to commence a new procurement Process for two Insurance Systems based on Information Technology.

     

    1. Supplying, Fixing and Executing a Communication System for Bandaranayaka International Airport and Rathmalana Airport (Document No.38)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to award the contract of Supplying, Fixing and Executing communication system in Bandaranayake International Airport and Rathmalana Airport to M/s SITTI S.P.A. for Euro 1.7 million and Rs.6 million with the intention of enhancing Operational Efficiency.

    1. Procurement of 5000 Rail Tracks (Document No.39)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon Siripala de Silva, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to award the contract of providing 5000 EN 45 E1 Rail Tracks, to M/s Angang Group International Panzlimua Co. Ltd. for USD 2.13 million

     

    1. Enhancing the Facilities of Swami Vipulananda institute of Aesthetic Studies Affiliated to Eastern University (Document No.46)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksha, Hon. Minister of Higher Education and Cultural affairs to implement aforesaid project using Rs. 275 million provided by the Indian Government and Government Investment of Rs.60.7 million.

     

    1. Investment Program for Green Energy Development and Enhancement of Efficiency of Energy  (Document No.47)

    The cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy to award the contract of construction of Colombo ‘B’ Grid Substation, Establishment of Cable Connection Between Kolonnawa and Colombo ‘C’ Substation and Enhancement of Kolonnawa and Colombo ‘C’ Substations to M/s Hyosung Corporation for Rs. 1,260.78 million.

     

    1. Modernization of Electrical Cable System in Kolonnawa Government Factory (Document No.48)

    The proposal presented by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Constructions for calling quotations from Lanka Electricity Board and Lanka Electricity Pvt.Ltd to modernize (cost Rs. 34.6 million) the underground low voltage cable system in Government Factory Department.

     

    1. Construction of Courts Complexes in Rathnapura and Kilinochchi (Document No.49)

    The cabinet of Ministers approved the combined proposal of Hon. Thalatha Atukorala, Minister of Justice and Prison Reforms to award the contract for constructing Rathnapura and Kilinochchi Court Complexes to Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau.

     

    1. Removal of Value Added Tax (VAT) for Expenditures in Health Services (Document No 58)

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media to submit the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2078 dated 02.07.2018 to the Parliament under the provisions of Value Added Tax Act No 14 of 2002.

    1. Hosting the 18th General Conference of Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (Document No.59)

    Approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has been granted to Sri Lanka Rupawahini Corporation to host the 18th General Conference of Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development planned to be held in Colombo, August 2018. The Proposal was presented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media .

    1. Importing Additional Maize needed to meet the requirement of Producing Animal Feed ( Document No 63)

    The cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Wijith Wijayamuni Zoysa, Minister of Fisheries , Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economic Affairs to import 50,000 metric tons of Maize by the National Food Development Board in order to produce animal feed, and to impose Rs.10/- Special Commodity Levy per 1 kg.

    1. Compensations for Properties and Places of Religious Worship damaged due to the Tense Situation in Ampara and Gintota

    The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Proposal presented by Hon. D.M.Swaminadan, Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development and Hindu Religious Affairs to compensate for the properties and places of religious worship damaged due to the tense situation in Ampara this year And in Gintota last year.

     

    1. Debt Relief for loans obtained by women under Micro Finance Loans Scheme, who live in Districts affected by Drought (Document No.)

    The cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media to implement a Debt Relief Program simultaneously to the “Enterprise Sri Lank” Project.
