    President Maithripala Sirisena yewsterday (20) opened the ‘Mehewara Piyasa’ building established at the Department of Labour with the aim of providing productive and efficient service to the public under one roof. The construction works of this building commenced in 2009 and it built at a cost of Rs. 8500 million. This is the largest and tallest building currently owned by the government and this 32-storey building features modern amenities.

    The Government today issued a response to the various comments and statements issued by foreign countries and organizations expressing concern over the appointment of Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva as Sri Lanka’s new Army Commander. Foreign ministry, issuing a statement said that appointment of the Army Commander of Sri Lanka is a sovereign decision by the Head of State.

    The results of the 2018 (2019) Daham Pasal Final Certificate Examination has been released, stated the Commissioner General of Examinations.The results can be accessed through the official website of the Department of Education,, stated the Commissioner-General B. Sanath Pujitha.

    The third Enterprise Sri Lanka Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Finance will be held in Jaffna from September 7th to 10th at the Jaffna Fort. The third exhibition is aimed at creating a large number of new entrepreneurs in the fisheries, agriculture and industrial sectors, a Finance Ministry official said. The Jaffna exhibition is also aimed at further boosting peace, reconciliation and development.
