    The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) is aware of the growing interest in virtual currencies (VCs), both domestically and internationally.The term “virtual currencies” is commonly used to refer to digitally created representations of value that are issued by private developers and denominated in their own unit of account. Common examples of virtual currencies are cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum. Virtual currencies are not central bank issued currency.

    Sri Lanka is working towards opening a gateway to East Africa via Colombo and a second gateway in Trincomalee which opens to Bay of Bengal,” said Minister of Megalopolis and Western Development, Champika Ranawaka. “We will extend the Megapolis concept to Trincomalee as well.     Lanka Army troops in the East began celebrating the traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year with a difference this year. According to Army media, troops, in coordination with the 'Wana Arana Foundation' and members of the Veddah (indegenous) community took part in a ' Bakmaha Ulela' held near the Hennanigala tank on Wednesday (14).
