Highest prorogue instance are reported in the time of the first executive president of Sri Lanka his Excellency J.R.Jayawardena under the 1978 constitution. Accordingly from 1978 to 1988 period 07 prorogue instance were reported and among 04 instances time period was more than 0ne month.
During the period of His Excellency the president R.Premadasa 04 prorogue instances were reported and among them 03 prorogue instances nearly one month- i.e. 24,28 & 29 days.
During the administrative period of Her Excellency the president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga 05 prorogue instance were recorded and longest prorogue period which was 02 months also were reported.
During the period of His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksha parliament sessions was prorogue 03 instances including shortest instance of two days from May 17th to 19th, 2009.
According to the records lowest prorogue instance were reported during the administrative period of present his Excellency the president Maithreepala Sirisena. That was from April 12th to May 08th, 2018 for 25 days and October 27th to November 14th,2018 for 17 days.
