The voting for the 2025 Local Government Elections began a few moments ago.
Voting will be held at 13,759 polling stations across the island from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm today (06), and the Election Commission urges voters to come early in the morning and cast their votes.
Voting will begin for 339 local government institutions, which include 28 municipal councils, 36 urban councils, and 275 Pradeshiya Sabhas. 75,589 candidates are contesting this election, including 49 political parties and 14 independent groups.
