Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan visits Royal Academy of Culinary Arts in Amman

Sri Lanka Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara, paid a visit to the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA) in Amman recently to explore avenues for promoting cultural exchange between Sri Lanka and Jordan.

The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA) is a non-profit private Jordanian institution that was founded in 2008 to fulfil the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Kingdom of Jordan of having a culinary school in Amman operating at the highest international standards and to introduce the Swiss experience of merging practical and hands-on training with academic education.

RACA’s Director, Chef Jacques Rossel, accompanied Ambassador Wijegunasekara on a tour to introduce her to the various academic facilities in addition to the academic programs.

The Ambassador discussed with RACA’s Director the future opportunities of cooperation between the Embassy and RACA with regard to practical training, events, and various activities. The Director also invited the Embassy to participate in the forthcoming International Food Festival 2025 organized by the academy, which serves as a platform to showcase global culinary traditions to many visitors.

The Ambassador presented a book titled ‘Sri Lanka Food,’ authored by a Sri Lankan writer, to the academy’s library. The Ambassador’s visit marked a positive step towards strengthening cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Jordan.
