A discussion between the Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake and representatives of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Merit Organization (Singapore) Ltd was held this morning (25) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The discussions focused on several matters, including the organisation’s contribution to the Government’s ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ programme to support people affected by Cyclone Ditwah, measures that need to be taken in anticipation of the expected El Niño conditions in the coming period, and potential projects that could be implemented in collaboration with the Government’s Clean Sri Lanka programme.
Representatives of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Merit Organization stated that they intend to implement health, education, cultural and humanitarian assistance programmes for communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
Recalling the organisation’s support during every major natural disaster that has affected Sri Lanka, the Secretary to the President expressed his appreciation for the social welfare initiatives being carried out on behalf of those impacted by Cyclone Ditwah.
Additional Secretary to the President S. P. C. Sugeeshwara, Additional Director General of the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat Kapila Senarath, Director (Social Affairs) L. A. S. C. Rajakaruna, Director (Volunteer Services) H. P. S. Shantha, Sri Lanka Care Team Lead Keng Lim, member Sim Sem Ping, and several other members of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Merit Organization attended the meeting.
