Discussion on engaging the Mahaweli Youth Corps in the ‘A Nation United’ National Programme

A discussion on the establishment of the “Drug Prevention – Mahaweli Youth Corps 2026” initiative was held yesterday afternoon (25) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of the Secretary to the President and Secretary of the “A Nation United” National Steering Council, Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

Accordingly, it has been planned to engage over 600 trained young men and women of the Mahaweli Youth Corps in the ‘A Nation United’ national programme aimed at eradicating the menace of narcotics. It was also decided to further deliberate on this matter at the forthcoming meeting of the “A Nation United” National Steering Council.

Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, Director General of the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka H. M. J. K. Herath, and several officials representing the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs as well as the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board were also present on the occasion.
