First Crude Oil Shipment Arrives at Colombo Port Amid Middle East Tensions

The first crude oil shipment to arrive in Sri Lanka following the outbreak of tensions in the Middle East reached the Colombo Port today (17), the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation said.

The vessel Desh Mahima, owned by the Shipping Corporation of India, arrived from the United Arab Emirates carrying approximately 97,500 metric tons of crude oil.

The ministry stated that the unloading process has commenced, and the crude oil is now being transported to the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery for refining.
