The first Kumbal Perahera of the historic Esala Perahera of the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy is scheduled to parade through the streets tonight (18).
The Kumbal Perahera will take to the streets for five consecutive days from August 18 to 22. The Randoli Perahera will then be held from August 23 to 27.
The final Randoli Perahera of this year’s Esala Perahera festival is scheduled to parade through the streets on the night of August 27.
The traditional water-cutting ceremony will take place in the early hours of August 28, followed by the Day Perahera later that afternoon, marking the conclusion of this year’s Kandy Esala Perahera.
