Flights to the Middle East resumed yesterday (03) from Bandaranaike International Airport after a temporary suspension due to the regional conflict.
The first flight was operated by FitsAir. Flight 8D 821 departed for Dubai at 1:20 p.m., carrying 47 passengers and 10 crew members.
Airport officials said flights are currently operating within a limited time period as Middle Eastern airspace has partially reopened. More flights to other destinations in the region are expected to resume in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a flight operated by Air Arabia (G9 509) left for Sharjah at 4:45 p.m. with 44 passengers and 10 crew members on board.
