Homagama Base Hospital has digitalized patient admission and registration at its Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) and launched telemedicine services, marking a significant step in modernizing healthcare delivery.
The initiative was inaugurated on July 1 by Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, who also witnessed the registration of the first patient through the new digital system and a live telemedicine consultation with a patient at Padukka Hospital.
Health officials said the new technology will improve efficiency, reduce costs, enhance patient management, and facilitate better sharing of medical records. During a subsequent discussion with hospital staff, the Minister also reviewed the hospital’s future development needs and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to its continued expansion.
