The ‘LilyLanka’ digital platform was officially launched on Tuesday, marking a significant step in strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital tourism ecosystem.
The launch took place at Barnes Hall, with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.
Addressing industry stakeholders, the Minister emphasized that global tourism is increasingly driven by digital platforms that influence how travellers discover destinations and make bookings. He described LilyLanka as a timely initiative that aligns with Sri Lanka’s broader efforts to build a digital economy and promote smart tourism.
He further noted that the platform would help retain a greater share of tourism revenue within the country.
The Minister also called on hotels, tour operators, and travel agencies to actively support the platform, highlighting that strong collaboration between the government and the industry is vital for sustainable growth.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of managing traveller data within a national framework to enhance planning and promote Sri Lanka as a leading global tourism destination.
