Russian Health Minister to Arrive in Sri Lanka for Three-Day Official Visit

Russian Federation Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko, along with a delegation, is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (03) for a three-day official visit.

During the visit, the Russian Health Minister and his delegation are expected to hold a special discussion with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Health and Mass Media, Nalinda Jayatissa, focusing on strengthening cooperation and relations in the health sector between Russia and Sri Lanka.

In addition, the delegation is also scheduled to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, for further discussions.

The Russian Health Minister and the delegation are also expected to visit the Colombo National Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo on May 4. Plans are also underway to enter into Memorandums of Understanding between the health ministries of Sri Lanka and Russia.

During the visit, discussions and exchanges of views are expected to take place on key areas of the health sector, including pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, training and advanced training of medical specialists, academic cooperation (including exchanges and joint programs), Ayurveda, and health tourism.

The delegation led by Minister Mikhail Murashko is scheduled to conclude the visit and depart the island on May 5.
