Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, according to the latest weather forecast.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some locations in these areas.
A few showers may occur in the Anuradhapura, Matale and Hambantota districts, while showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Ampara, Monaragala and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail over the other areas of the island.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of around 40–50 kmph may occur at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, and in the Trincomalee, Monaragala, Hambantota and Matale districts.
The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize the risk of damage and accidents caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
