A special discussion chaired by Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Professor Chandana Abayaratne was held yesterday (25) to address issues affecting the Kala Oya and Ma Oya water supply projects aimed at resolving drinking water shortages in several areas of the Puttalam District.
The discussion focused on expediting the projects and removing existing obstacles to provide drinking water to affected communities in areas including Kalpitiya, Puttalam, Mundalama, Mahakumbukkadawala, Vanathavilluwa, Dankotuwa, Wennappuwa and Nattandiya.
Representatives from the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Department of Irrigation and Department of Wildlife Conservation agreed to take necessary measures to implement the projects in line with environmental requirements and resolve existing issues promptly.
The discussion was attended by Mohamed Faisal, Chairman of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board Engineer Chandana Bandara, senior government officials and representatives of relevant institutions.
