An islandwide special dengue control programme will be implemented from September 14 to 19 as a preventive measure against the anticipated increase in dengue risk, Additional Director General of the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat Indika Gamage said.
He made these remarks while speaking at a media briefing held today (11) at the Government Information Department.
The programme will cover 62 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas, and a special operations centre will also be established to coordinate the programme. The public will have the opportunity to directly submit their concerns and complaints to the centre, he said.
Mr. Gamage further said that preparations are necessary to address the potential increase in dengue cases due to the El Niño conditions. Accordingly, areas identified as being at the highest risk will be prioritized under the special dengue control programme.
