Sri Lanka and Belarus Strengthen Bilateral Ties Through High-Level Talks

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, currently on an official visit to the Belarus, held bilateral discussions with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and senior officials in Minsk aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Following the talks, the Foreign Ministers of Sri Lanka and Belarus issued a Joint Statement reaffirming the commitment of both nations to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across several sectors.

The visit marks the first high-level visit from Sri Lanka to Belarus in more than a decade and reflects renewed momentum in diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The discussions also led to the signing of an agreement and several Memoranda of Understanding, expected to provide a strong foundation for expanding bilateral ties and future cooperation between Sri Lanka and Belarus.

Representing Sri Lanka at the discussions were Ambassador-designate to the Russian Federation Shobini Gunasekera, Director General for Europe and North America Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, along with other government officials.
