The first-ever Sri Lanka Food Festival 2026 was held recently at Green Meadows Resort in Chennai, organized by the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai under the initiative of Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran.
The festival showcased Sri Lanka’s rich culinary heritage, attracting over 700 guests, including diplomats, business leaders, tourism stakeholders, and South Indian artists. It was organized in collaboration with several Sri Lankan and Indian institutions to promote tourism, trade, and cultural ties between the two regions.
A key highlight was the participation of expert chefs from Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, alongside cultural performances by the Sri Lanka Police dance troupe.
During the event, the Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal also announced plans to donate an ambulance to Sri Lanka and renovate 30 schools, further strengthening bilateral goodwill.
The festival generated strong public interest, with over 25,000 social media views within three days.
