A Sri Lankan delegation led by Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe is participating in the 114th Annual International Labour Conference (ILC), which commenced today (01) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Held under the theme “Advancing Social Justice, Promoting Decent Work,” the Conference will continue until 12 June and brings together representatives of governments, employers, and workers from the 187 Member States of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The Conference, widely known as the “Parliament of Labour,” will focus on key issues including decent work in the digital and platform economy, gender equality, social dialogue, and strengthening cooperation among governments, employers, and workers.
Sri Lanka’s participation provides an opportunity to share experiences on international labour standards, contribute to global discussions on emerging workplace challenges, and showcase the country's efforts to promote fair working conditions, social justice, and sustainable economic development.
The Sri Lankan delegation also includes Secretary to the Ministry of Labour S.M. Piyatissa, Commissioner General of Labour Nadika Wataliyadda, and several other officials.
