Sri Lanka to Commission First Battery Energy Storage System and Floating Solar Power Project Today (18)

Sri Lanka’s first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), established to enhance the country’s renewable energy capacity and strengthen the stability of the national electricity system, is scheduled to be inaugurated in Anuradhapura this morning (18) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the participation of Minister of Ports, Civil Aviation and Energy Anura Karunathilaka.

Meanwhile, the “Diyajanani” floating solar power system, constructed on the Ibbankatuwa Reservoir in Dambulla under the Government’s national programme to generate electricity through renewable energy,
