Sri Lanka to Introduce Four New Cath Labs to Boost Cardiac Care

Sri Lanka’s public health sector will receive four advanced Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories (Cath Labs) next week at a cost of Rs. 1.2 billion, the Ministry of Health announced.

The new units will be installed at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital (June 27), Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila (June 30), and two units at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (July 2).

Equipped with advanced AI-powered imaging technology, the Cath Labs will enhance the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular diseases, reduce patient waiting lists, and provide faster, safer, and more accurate cardiac care across the country.
