A group of students from Beminiwaththa Maha Vidyalaya, located in the Mawanella in Kegalle District, visited the Presidential Secretariat and the President’s House this morning (09).
This opportunity was provided in line with the ‘Vision’ programme, organised collaboratively by the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Education and the Department of Communication of the Parliament.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the history of the Parliament after touring the old parliamentary building.
They also received a briefing on the facilities available to the public under the President’s Fund and the ongoing digitalisation initiatives, delivered by Mr. Roshan Gamage, Secretary of the President’s Fund and Senior Additional Secretary to the President.
In addition, the President’s Fund donated LKR 100,000 to the school for the purchase of books for its library. The students and teaching staff were also informed about the government’s flagship ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme.
Highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, Mr K.M.N. Kumarasinghe, Senior Additional Secretary to the President, presented a valuable sapling to the school.
The visit also included an opportunity for the students to engage in a cordial interaction with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
