The National Savings Bank (NSB) has informed the Finance Ministry that a sum of Rs 28 billion is unaccounted for in terms of a Rs 55 billion worth road construction loan, which they had released to the Highways Ministry when it was under former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Planning and Economic Affairs Deputy Minister Dr Harsha De Silva yesterday said.

Director Irrigation Janaki Meegastenna has requested the pilgrims visiting Anuradhapura to avoid using the reservoirs in the area for bathing. Due to heavy rains during the past few days the reservoirs were brimful and care had to be taken to avert disasters, the Director said.
