    The constriction of Sri Lanka’s tallest building, the 92 story commercial and Residential Tower of ‘The One Transworks Square (Pvt) Ltd’ will commence next year and would be completed in three years, said Chief Executive Officer and Director of The One Transworks Square, Janaki Siriwardhana.When completed it would be among the top 6 tallest buildings in South Asia.

    The trade deficit contracted in October 2019 (year-on-year), with the decline in expenditure on imports and a marginal decline in earnings from exports says Central bank of Sri Lanka.Issuing the report on External Sector Performance – October 2019 the bank says the trade deficit contracted during the first ten months of 2019 compared to the corresponding period in 2018, as a result of the notable decline in cumulative expenditure on imports along with increased cumulative earnings from exports.

    The Department of Meteorology today issued Warning for Severe Lightning says that “Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle,Matara, Kilinochchi and Mannar districts during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places.Temporarily strong gusty winds up to 70-80 kmph also possible during thundershowers.
    ACTION REQUIRED:
    The Department of Meteorology advises that people should:
     Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
     Avoid open areas such as paddy fields, tea plantations and open water bodies during thunderstorms.
     Avoid using wired telephones and connected electric appliances during thunderstorms.
     Avoid using open vehicles, such as bicycles, tractors and boats etc.
     Beware of fallen trees and power lines.
     For emergency assistance contact the local disaster management authorities.
