    Sri Lanka having achieved Millennium Development Goals in water and sanitation is in a better position to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) before 2030, State Minister of Water Supply Facilities Vasudeva Nanayakka said. He was addressing the regional Workshop of Rapid Action Learning on Water and Sanitation held under the theme of “Leaving No One Behind” held in Negombo recently.

    Information and Communication Technology, Higher Education, Technology Innovation Minister Bandula Gunawardena stressed that the Postal Service will never be privatised even though it is presently running at a loss.The Minister made these remarks after assuming duties as the Information and Communication Technology, Higher Education, Technology Innovation Minister at the Postal Services headquarters in Colombo yesterday.Addressing the media, he highlighted that the Postal Service is enriched with many facets that can be utilised in making it a profit making venture. Modern management mechanism and novel technology will be implemented to the Postal Service aiming to convert it into a profitable and economic viable one.


    Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday pledged to rectify the humiliation and injustices that the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka were subjected to during the past five years and provide restitution where necessary.He further pledged to take initiatives at the international level to restore to our armed forces, the respect and dignity they deserve.The Prime Minister made this observations participating as the Chief Guest at the Graduation Ceremony of the Defence Services Command and Staff College held yesterday at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre.


    Japan and Sri Lanka yesterday emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the key areas of economic development during the meeting between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and visiting Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu at the Presidential Secretariat.The two countries expressed commitment to identify the key areas of such economic cooperation during this meeting.
