Republic of Lithuania opened its Honorary Consulate in Sri Lanka with R. M. Manivannan, Chairman of SupremeSAT and Owner of Supreme Global Holdings as the Honorary Consul.
Manivannan, known as a big time private investor in emerging markets, has established large scale mining assets in Africa including Mauritania, DR Congo, Uganda, Madagascar and Kenya.
Lithuania is a member of the EU, NATO and the World Trade Organization. The country also assumed a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in January 2014 and Joined the Eurozone in 2015.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
