The Minister of Primary industries Daya Gamage said that exports growth through value-addition done locally, generation of jobs with higher returns for youth and securing a 550 million USD market by regaining the GSP plus facility and other development plans will be undertaken successfully in the next five years.
While expressing views to the media, he pointed out that his ministry can make considerable contributions towards Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s concept of creating one million jobs within five years.
Also, an accelerated programme will be carried out with the blessings of President Maithripala Sirisena and with the support from Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama to double the country’s exports within the next five years, he added.
