The government has taken steps to open the Vavuniya Bus Stand within the next few weeks. People are undergoing severe hardships due to the non-opening of the Vavuniya bus stand which has been built at a cost of 108 million rupees. The Vavuniya bus stand was built to provide better facilities for the passengers and to minimize congestion in the Vavuniya town.
Passengers charge that officials have not taken steps to open the bus stand which has been built by public funds.
Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva who inspected the same bus stand several weeks ago instructed the officials to open the bus stand within a month.
Northern Provincial Council Minister B. Deniswaran who inspected the present condition of the Vavuniya bus stand.assured to open it within the next few weeks.
